Muslim Association of Malawi has drilled solar-powered boreholes and electric-powered water systems across multiple districts including Mangochi, Balaka, Zomba, Blantyre, Chiradzulu, and Machinga. This program was funded by a Turkish Islamic organisation.
The boreholes provide portable water to communities that previously relied on unprotected water sources, significantly curbing the contraction of waterborne diseases such as cholera and typhoid.
Each borehole is equipped with a solar pump, storage tank, and distribution taps. Local community water committees are trained to manage and maintain the systems.
