The Muslim Association of Malawi recognizes that clean water is a fundamental necessity for every individual. In Malawi, many communities are still deprived of this basic human right, leaving them vulnerable to waterborne diseases such as Cholera.
Through the Water and Sanitation Program, MAM drills boreholes and constructs solar-powered water kiosks that provide piped clean water to underserved communities. All kiosks are powered by solar energy — eliminating electricity costs and ensuring sustainability even in off-grid areas.
Beyond water provision, the program fosters economic growth. With access to clean water, children spend time in school rather than fetching water. Women are freed for income-generating activities. Communities are empowered to take ownership of their water sources through local maintenance teams trained by MAM.
The Water and Sanitation Program operates on a sustainable model, working closely with community leaders and creating local employment opportunities.
