Malawi is one of Africa's most disaster-prone countries, regularly affected by floods, droughts, and increasingly powerful tropical cyclones. The Muslim Association of Malawi maintains a standing relief capacity, ready to mobilize when communities are affected.
Notable responses include emergency relief following Cyclone Freddy (2023), one of the deadliest and most intense tropical cyclones ever recorded in Africa. MAM provided food packs, tarpaulins, blankets, and clean water to thousands of displaced families across Blantyre, Mulanje, Phalombe, and Zomba.
MAM works closely with the Department of Disaster Management Affairs (DoDMA) and international NGOs to ensure coordinated, effective, and dignified relief to all affected Malawians, regardless of faith.
