MAM Hands Over Six Classrooms and Office Block at Mufti Abbas Primary School, Mangochi

MAM has officially handed over six newly constructed classrooms and an office block at Mufti Abbas Primary School in Mangochi, urging parents to seize growing education opportunities for their children.

Muslim Association of Malawi (MAM) has officially handed over six newly constructed classrooms and an office block at Mufti Abbas Primary School in Mangochi District — the second major infrastructure delivery at the MAM-owned school since construction began in 2018.

MAM National Chairman Sheikh Idrissa Muhammad presided over the handover ceremony and used the occasion to call on parents and guardians across Mangochi to enrol their children in school without delay.

"We understand that previously, some of you were failing to send your children to school because of long distances to education facilities. But now with many partners around, many schools have been constructed and this should compel us to embrace the opportunity to educate our children," said Sheikh Muhammad.

The Chairman emphasised that education remains the most reliable pathway out of poverty, and pledged that MAM will continue to construct teachers' houses, additional classroom blocks, and sanitation facilities at Mufti Abbas Primary School to accommodate a growing learner population.

A representative from the Boma Zone Primary Education office commended MAM for the construction, noting that before these structures, children were forced to learn in the open. "Now with the structures, we will have far fewer learners sitting outside. This is great and will spur education at this school," the representative said.

Mufti Abbas Primary School is a MAM-owned institution managed in partnership with the Malawi Government. It serves children from across the surrounding communities of Mangochi district, one of Malawi's most densely Muslim-populated areas.
