UAE President Pledges Solar Village and Hospital Upgrade for Nkhata Bay

A four-member UAE government delegation visited Nkhata Bay under the hosting of MAM National Chairman Sheikh Idrissa Muhammad, pledging to build a fully solar-powered village and upgrade Maula Health Centre to a rural hospital.

The Muslim Association of Malawi (MAM) is pleased to announce a landmark development partnership with the Government of the United Arab Emirates following an official delegation visit to Chiziya Village in Traditional Authority Fukamalaza, Nkhata Bay district.

The four-member delegation from the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, led by Sheikh Ahmed Alshehhi, was hosted by MAM National Chairman Sheikh Idrissa Muhammad for several days of community visits and development assessments across Nkhata Bay. The delegation toured the Solar Energy and Ecology Institute in Chiziya Village and met directly with community members.

Following the visit, the UAE President pledged to construct a fully integrated solar-powered village in Chiziya — providing households, schools, and health facilities with clean, reliable energy at no cost to residents. The delegation also committed to upgrading Maula Health Centre to a fully-fledged rural hospital capable of serving tens of thousands of people in the surrounding communities.

MAM Publicity Secretary Sheikh Dinala Chabulika expressed deep gratitude on behalf of the association. "The delegation returned home satisfied with what they have seen. Their pledge to build a whole Chiziya Solar Village is a powerful sign of their commitment to the people of Nkhata Bay," said Sheikh Chabulika.

National Chairman Sheikh Idrissa Muhammad described the partnership as a milestone. "Our role is not just to build mosques — it is to build communities. This UAE partnership will transform lives in Nkhata Bay in ways that will last for generations," he said.

MAM will coordinate with UAE authorities and local government to ensure smooth implementation. Community members are encouraged to register with their local MAM district offices for project updates.
